Overview

Pokhara is a picturesque city located in central Nepal, approximately 200 kilometers west of the capital, Kathmandu. Renowned for its stunning natural beauty, Pokhara is situated on the shores of Phewa Lake, with a backdrop of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri mountain ranges. The city is a popular destination for tourists seeking a tranquil environment, adventure activities, and breathtaking views of the Himalayas. Attractions in Pokhara include Phewa Lake, Devi's Fall, Gupteshwor Cave, the International Mountain Museum, and the World Peace Pagoda.

Muktinath is a sacred pilgrimage site located at an altitude of 3,800 meters (12,467 feet) in the Mustang district of Nepal. The name "Muktinath" translates to "Place of Liberation" in Sanskrit. It holds religious significance for both Hindus and Buddhists and is considered a place of salvation and spiritual cleansing. The main attraction at Muktinath is the Muktinath Temple, dedicated to Lord Vishnu in Hinduism and Chenrezig (Avalokiteshvara) in Buddhism. The temple complex includes 108 water spouts, a sacred eternal flame, and various shrines. The journey to Muktinath often involves a scenic drive or flight from Pokhara, passing through diverse landscapes and offering stunning views of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri mountain ranges.

Trip Itinerary

Commence your 5-day journey by traveling from Kathmandu to Pokhara. Choose either a scenic flight for breathtaking views or a picturesque drive through the Prithvi Highway. Upon arrival, check into your hotel and spend the afternoon exploring Phewa Lake. Enjoy a boat ride or relax by the lakeside.

Dedicate the day to exploring Pokhara's attractions. Begin with a visit to the International Mountain Museum in the morning. Explore Devi's Fall and Gupteshwor Cave in the afternoon for a unique natural experience. Evening leisure can be spent strolling through the vibrant Lakeside area.

Embark on an early morning drive to Sarangkot to witness a spectacular sunrise over the Annapurna Range. Later in the day, visit Bindhyabasini Temple, Seti River Gorge, the Old Bazaar, and the World Peace Pagoda. Enjoy a peaceful evening by Phewa Lake.

Travel from Pokhara to Jomsom, either by a scenic flight or a road trip. From Jomsom, continue the journey to Muktinath, a sacred pilgrimage site. Explore the Muktinath Temple and the surrounding spiritual sites. Return to Jomsom in the evening for an overnight stay.

On the final day, either take a flight or drive back to Kathmandu from Jomsom. Spend the afternoon exploring any remaining Kathmandu attractions or indulging in some last-minute shopping. This concludes your enriching 5-day journey from the cultural heart of Kathmandu to the serene landscapes and spiritual heights of Pokhara and Muktinath.
